I was mid-editing process, where the school shut down to due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I found a cheap student version of Adobe Creative Cloud and continued editing from scratch.

Since we were off school, I had more time on my hands and decided to play around with editing, trying out different things to make the video look as good as I could possibly make it look.

First, I split up my videos into a "good" and "bad" file, so I wouldn't have to decipher which ones I can use while already in premiere. Then, I imported all the videos in the "good" file into premiere and also imported the song. Then after putting the first video, I played around with the order of things to see which clip would match better. This caused me to deviate from the initial order I had everything set up on my story board.

I also realised while editing that, the initial cut from the party to the singer lip syncing was very out of place and odd. Therefore, I had the idea of making a glitch effect to match the bass at the start of the chorus. I searched up some tutorials and played around with the clip until I achieved a decent glitch effect. I wanted to repeat this effect, but in different ways, (e.g. changing the lighting, changing the position, etc.) with every bass drop in the chorus. However, when I did this for the entire first chorus, I realised that it looked repetitive and strange. Therefore I decided to only keep only the first glitch effect for my final edit.

Due to my experience in Adobe from my foundation portfolio, I was aware that the "warp stabilizer" effect doesn't always work properly, and ends up being very obvious that it has been used. Therefore, I decided to use that to my advantage. I used this effect at the beginning of the video, to imitate the intoxicated feeling someone may have. Due to its "smoothing" effect, it made the initial clip look like what someone may see when they are drunk. This is used to make the audience feel more connected to the intoxication surrounding the party, perhaps causing them to understand the singer's point of view better.

I ended up coming up with a logical order for the events to be seen in and then proceeded to try matching the cuts with the music. Doing this would make the whole piece flow fluently, without untimely cuts. Soon I realised that I had to extend the time I included each clip to really match with the slow pace of the music. When I needed to use cuts, I took advantage of the lyrics to make the cuts seem more clean. When a new set of lyrics started in the song, I decided to cut to the next clip.

Another thing I did was, matching certain events with the music itself. An example of this is when there is a sound of a drum and a slight bass drop around the lyric, "on designated drives home", I matched a clip of a ping pong ball falling into a cup, and used the drums that follow to cut to a clip of someone drinking from one of the beer pong cups.
